The last news I heard about Patty Griffin, she was performing guest vocals on Robert Plant’s fantastic “Band of Joy” album, back in 2010. But just two and a half short years later, she’s back.
On Thursday came the announcement that Griffin’s new album, “American Kid,” will be released May 7. It’s her first album since “Children Running Through” in 2007. This new record, written for her father, is “her first album whose music sounds stylistically rooted in Americana,” according to a news release.
Plant , no stranger to Americana music — again, see “Band of Joy” — would be proud. He likely will be proud; the former Led Zeppelin front man sings on three tracks of “American Kid,” the release states.
